In my opinion, 2010 was a strong year in hip-hop, and I’m definitely looking forward to the mystery that 2011 brings. We’re only a few days into the new year, so many of these projects don’t have official release dates. I’m guessing it’ll be another busy 3rd/4th quarter. But here some artists/projects (that I’m looking forward to) that are scheduled to drop in 2011:
50 Cent—The Return of the Heartless Monster or Black Magic—Sometime in 2011
Asher Roth—The Spaghetti Tree—Sometime in 2011
Beyonce—TBA—Probably Summer 2011
Big Boi—Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader—Fall 2011
Big Sean—Finally Famous—Never/Ask Def Jam
Bridget Kelly—TBA—Sometime in 2011

Drake—Take Care—Summer 2011

The Game—R.E.D Album—Who cares?
Gucci Mane—The Final Verdict—Well, this is ironic.
Fabolous—Loso’s Way 2—Sometime in March

Now for projects with actual releases dates:
Talib Kweli—Gutter Rainbows—January 25th
Saigon—The Greatest Story Never Told—February 15th
Jim Jones—Capo—February 22nd
Chip Tha Ripper—Gift Raps—March 1st
Kanye West+Jay-Z—Watch The Throne—March 1st
Raekwon—Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang—March 8th
Lupe Fiasco—Lasers—March 8th
Snoop Dogg—Doggumentary Music—March 8th
A few notes:
-The Watch The Throne release date was reported by FSD, so I won’t really question it. Apparently the first single is coming within a week—possibly as soon as Friday. Perhaps it’s the Lex Luger produced “H.A.M”?
-The Believer, as well as John Legend’s upcoming solo LP, are supposedly going to be entirely produced by Kanye with assistance from No I.D.
-Pusha T’s solo LP will have production from The Neptunes, Bangladesh, and of course, ‘Ye.
-J. Cole’s album will be totally devoid of features, except for Jay-Z and Trey Songz?
-Wale’s album will probably be under the Maybach Music Umbrella. Maybe he’ll get some distribution this time.
-Kim Kardashian is releasing a solo LP with songwriting and production from The-Dream. Whatever…
-Chris Brown’s LP will be double-disc album.
-Andre 3000 has nothing publicly scheduled for 2011, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say he releases something this year.
